10 Conspiracy Theories People Still Believe

No matter how old you are, everyone loves a good conspiracy theory. In fact, some people may agree that being obsessed with at least one conspiracy theory will keep you entertained and amused for a long time – it may be good for you (don't quote us on this!). If you believe everything on the internet, a quick Google search will tell you that there is a conspiracy theory about everything!

1. The Moon Landing Was Not Real

Let's start with the most famous conspiracy theory; you've probably heard of this one, too. A lot of people genuinely believe that the first moon landing was fake. We have all seen those pictures of the first astronaut, Neil Armstrong, on the moon next to an American flag. The flag moving in the wind, with no stars and wrong shadows, leads the people to believe NASA staged the whole act.

2. Computer Viruses

Another conspiracy theory floating about is that most computer viruses in the 2000s were created by software companies selling antivirus programs. IT professionals say it is absurd how these programs miss the apparent indications of viruses, which leads us to this conclusion. And from a marketing perspective, how good is this PR? You're anonymously creating the need for your own product.

3. The Trump Animatronic

When the Trump animatronic was revealed after his Presidential win, fans quickly pointed out how closely the animatronic resembled Hilary Clinton. This led to the conspiracy theory that the Imagineers at Disney were very sure Clinton would win, for which they prepared accordingly. When that didn't happen, Disney only altered the existing Hilary version instead of redesigning the entire thing. Fans say you wouldn't be able to unsee it.

4. US Intelligence Services

This is a widely acknowledged claim and a conspiracy theory that the US, and probably other intelligence services, promote conspiracy theories to hide their dealings and projects. You may remember that a couple of years ago, everyone talked about Area 51. Though experts and netizens believe the plot was to distract the public from other (multiple) secret bases, it became a cultural phenomenon.

5. Recycling Is a Scam

Giant corporations have been pushing the habit of recycling lately, and many people don't buy the act. They accept that recycling is essential. Still, they also believe that by guilt-tripping people into recycling, these corporations hide that they are the most significant environmental threat. No amount of people shifting to paper straws will face the turtle unless these big productions and shipping corps do their part.

6. Bigfoot Is Real

Stories of Bigfoot take us back to camp days when we sat around the fire and shared stories of Bigfoot spottings back in school. As we grew up, some people never really forgot the whole myth and still believe the giant monster is real. Even today, you will find people sharing grainy pictures and videos of how they tried to track it or if they found giant footsteps.

7. Celebrity Baby Names

This one may seem random, but some people believe celebrity baby names are not their actual names. Instead, kids are given false names to protect their identity. This would explain how celebrity baby names get wilder every year. Claims to support this idea include saying that a celeb's kid in camp had a different name and fake names, which also protects kids from hearing crazy stories about themselves on television and in the media.

8. Pockets and Women's Clothing

You don't have to be an activist to figure out this discrimination between men's and women's clothing, which very obviously lacks any pockets. People believe it is to promote the handbag industry; this is primarily regarded as valid. Other people say that the lack of pockets is because women's clothing is primarily tight-fit, where pockets would ruin the illusion of being slim. Regardless of what is true, the situation is very inconvenient.

9. Walt Disney's Frozen Head

If you grew up in the 90s and were in elementary school, you may know what this is about. Surprisingly, this is still a widely believed conspiracy theory. The story claims that Walt Disney's head is cryogenically frozen and is kept under the Disneyland Castle in California. Some say the reason was to one day cure him of death. Of course, there is no evidence for these claims, but they are popular stories.

10. Frozen – The Disney Film

Leading on from the previous conspiracy theory, Disney fans say that the Frozen Head rumor got so wild that Disney made the movie Frozen, so it would be harder to search for the rumor on Google. The name would confuse the algorithm, and the accurate information would be buried under Frozen, the movie's promo. There is a similar reason for Disney's flop movie, Prime, to make it harder to access Amazon Prime.
