Directed by Frank Darabont, this phenomenal series brings to the screen the tale of Andy Dufresne, who, played by Tim Robbins, was a banker who was unjustly convicted of the murder and formed a unique friendship with Red, a prisoner who Morgan Freeman plays. On the other hand, Andy's role was initially offered to Tom Hanks. Still, he declined to act in “Forrest Gump,” which ultimately resulted in Robbins earning his place on the screen with his unforgettable portrayal that touched the hearts of moviegoers worldwide.
4. Titanic (1997)
At the heart of James Cameron's blockbuster romance metaphorically set against the doomed background of the legendary RMS Titanic lays the enigmatic character of Jack Dawson, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, who is portrayed as a polite artist with a pleasing nature, and the equally enigmatic Rose DeWitt Bukater, played by Kate Winslet, who is a young Unbelievably, the part of Jack was almost given to Matthew McConaughey. Yet, he declined the opportunity, and this pathway made DiCaprio and Winslet create a tag team that still stands now.
5. Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
John Hughes' timeless teenage comedy movie impersonates high-school slacker Ferris Bueller, played by Matthew Broderick, exactly as he begins his trip in Chicago in the sense that he eludes his school principal. It just so happened that actors and filmmakers considered Jim Carrey for this role, but Broderick's performance eventually became identified with the character because of his engaging style of acting.
6. Forrest Gump (1994)
The 1994 drama Forrest Gump, shot by Robert Zemeckis, tells the unique story of Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks), who played a big role in America's history by utilizing his wise and childish way of thinking. But Tom Selleck, who had to decline due to a scheduling conflict with his television series “Magnum, P.I.,” turned out to be very close to playing the role of Indiana Jones and instead went to Harrison Ford, whose character was portrayed as a swashbuckling hero.
8. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (2001- 2003)
Director Peter Jackson's classic fantasy drama, created on the writings from J.R.R. Tolkien's novels, saw Elijah Woods as Frodo Baggins on a challenging journey, which was to kill the only ring and checkmate dark lord Sauron. Fascinatingly, Jake Gyllenhaal almost played the character of Frodo.
