15 Old “Rules” Adults Still Follow Today

Rules are made to keep society organized and efficient. They have eased the public's lives by making every citizen answerable for his actions. Besides public-friendly rules, many rules have no reasonable basis. Let's look at the top stupid rules that people still follow today.

1. You Can't Bring Popcorns to Theater

If you have ever visited a cinema, you must be aware of the rule that you are not allowed to bring your popcorn to the theatre. To enjoy the movie with snacks, you must buy expensive popcorn from the vendor inside the theatre room. It is infuriating that you cannot carry popcorn bought at regular rates when enjoying the big screens.

2. You'll Not Be Hired With Ordinary Resumes

The more appealing and optimized your letters are, the greater your chances of getting hired. You will lose the opportunity if you're a potent and compatible candidate but have not made your CV according to the set standards. It's insane that you will be judged based on a piece of paper rather than your skills.

3. You Cannot Use Your Phones at the Workplace

You must have seen employees complaining about cell phone restrictions at the workplace. This rule makes sense, as it prevents employees from wasting their time on mobiles. But what if someone has to inform them about an emergency? Complete restrictions on mobile use can result in unexpected incidents, so this should be changed.

4. You Have To Ensure Onsite Job Attendance

Many places still force employees to ensure regular onsite attendance in a world with trending remote job opportunities. This rule should be reconsidered. Employees should have the right to decide where to work to give efficient results. Some tasks demand group work at the office, and some need a single person's effort at home.

5. You Can't Eat at Public Transports

Some places have prohibited eating on public transport. This can be done to ensure a clean environment and reduce the risk of passengers' inconvenience. But what if someone forgets to eat in a hurry and has no other option than to eat while travelling? They should have permission to prefer their health condition rather than the passengers' little discomfort.

6. You Can't Bring Your Pets to Public Areas

Many public recreational areas have prohibited the entry of pets. This restricts people's enjoyment of quality time with their favorite pets at their favorite places. Pet lovers are badly affected by this rule. They urge people to get permission to carry their pets to public places.

7. You Can't Get an Early Off

If you have ever worked as an employee, you must know how difficult it is to get an early leave from the office. Despite your emergency, most companies don't accept your leave. This rule should be changed for workers' relaxation and convenience.

8. You Have To Believe In Dumb Feedback

The highly connected world has made the feedback procedures quick and easy to follow. At the same time, this easy approach has allowed non-serious people to participate in answering this feedback. Such people make dumb answers just as fun and damage all of your results. But officially, you have to consider all the answers the public gives.

9. You Have To Use Restricted Internet

Many working institutes allow students and employees to use limited websites and applications that provide internet access. But this rule has no perk. Everyone knows how to use VPNs and other tactics to get full internet access, so organizations do not bother investing in restricting internet use.

10. You Can't Take Photos

You must have visited a place where you could not click photos. Even though you visited a public place, you still had to follow the restrictions about photography with your camera. There may be some security and privacy issues associated with this rule, but it has caused a lot of inconvenience for the public.

11. You Can't Wear Sneakers at Job

Many companies don't allow employees to wear sneakers during work hours. Employees are forced to wear uncomfortable shoes despite having to be on their feet all the time in the office. This rule should be changed and made worker-friendly. Employees should have the right to wear the shoes they find most comfortable.

12. You Can't Bring Your Drinks to Restaurants

Weirdly, restaurants do not allow customers to bring drinks from outside. Customers are forced to order drinks at higher prices when enjoying an outdoor meal. Whatever the reason behind this stupid rule, it should be changed. Many people don't get their favorite drinks at the respective restaurant, so they should have permission to bring their drinks.

13. You Can't Drink at a Library

Libraries have strict rules about eating and drinking. You can't bring even a single bottle or edible packet with you. This rule can be authentic when it comes to messing control. However, it has created complications for students studying for hours while sitting there. They have to walk a long way to drink and eat and then return to the library, which is quite hectic.

14. You Can't Record the Videos

Many public areas have implemented restrictions on videography at certain events. Privacy concerns are okay, but sometimes recordings are important to make everyone aware of the truth with solid proof. However, these restrictions prevent the true news from reaching the public.

15. You Can't Increase Your Hair Length

Many official organizations or companies have restricted their workers' hair growth, particularly men's. This is because long hair does not make a man look presentable at office work. This rule is unfair to some extent. Employees should have the permission to dress according to their style.
