15 Reasons Nobody Wants to Live in Texas

While people prefer to change their lives, most try to find a new place to live in a new state, city, or even country. Texas is one of the most famous states in America. Numerous people live there, but certain factors make it unsuitable for some individuals. Here are some points that make Texas an unattractive place to live. 

1. Extreme Weather

One of the primary reasons people avoid living in Texas is the hot weather. Temperatures rise to 70 degrees Fahrenheit and above, making everyday tasks a significant challenge. Living without air conditioners is unimaginable, which leads to high electricity bills.

2. Pollution

Pollution and poor air quality are the significant reasons people don't prefer Texas for living, as multiple factors are responsible for air pollution. With air pollution comes an increased risk of numerous respiratory diseases, and the healthcare system is not efficient enough, which is the worst combo. 

3. Limited Public Transport

There is a significant problem with sufficient public transport in Texas as people prefer personal vehicles, which is also a must-have in some rural areas. This limited access to reliable public transport is a notable commute problem for older people and people who can afford private transport.

4. Low Wages

Texas has a tremendous economic boost, but it does not mean people there get paid well. The wages for jobs are below the average without any raise or minimum raise at max, which affects almost all aspects of life. Only very high-ups and people are given access to high-paying jobs.

There has been an unequal distribution of resources for higher and lower-class people, and education has also been affected. The lower-class areas face underfunding and overcrowding due to less trained teachers and less supply of essential materials such as books, which consequential impact students' quality of education.

There is an issue with the safety and security of the inhabitants of Texas, which leads people to step back from living in Texas as there have been reported high crime rates such as violent crimes and property harm, which make the safety compromised, and the people need to remain more vigilant for their safety. 

7. Drought and Clean Water Access

In Texas, a frequent drought problem has affected everyday life and agriculture. If water is available, there is a big question mark regarding the cleanness of tap water for drinking purposes, mostly in rural areas. People don't consider it safe to consume contaminated water, which could welcome innumerable diseases.

Despite having good economic support, there has been a skyrocketing increase in the living expenses in Texas, specifically the housing prices, which have made buying houses difficult for people new to the financial world as the wages remain low.

Texas would become a nightmare for someone willing to live there with pollen allergies as the pollen season is prolonged due to long summers and short winters. Multiple could suffer from symptoms such as continuous sneezing or nose itching with runny eyes and nose, especially during spring when cedar fever is at the top.

10. Slow-Paced Lifestyle

The lifestyle of Texas may not be suitable for today's youngsters as it will not align with their preference for a fast-paced life because time there moves a bit differently. People in Texas mainly have laid-back lives with more relaxation time than work, which is also understandable as the weather there drains energy drastically. 

11. Socio Economic Division

There has been a noteworthy contrast in the level of prosperity between the elite class and the average class. Socio-economic differences are the primary reason some areas have more than sufficient basic needs and others below average. These differences tremendously impact healthcare, education, and the economic part of life.

12. Bad Traffic

Due to people preferring personal commute options and limited public transport availability, there has been extreme traffic congestion on roads and that too on long routes for the daily commute, which could make anyone frustrated and drained just by traveling.

13. Bad Health Care System

Unfortunately, the healthcare system of Texas is not on the good number on the list. It is an essential component when choosing a place to move to. With a poor health care system and limited health care professionals, it is also expensive, which makes it further arduous for people to have access.

14. High Urbanization

There are rising problems regarding finances, health systems, and other necessities because of the population increase and urbanization. As the cities are becoming crowded rapidly, the government can't uphold such a large number of people in the same place with a sufficient supply of necessities.

Even if you have enough money to buy a new house in Texas, you might back down after learning about the property taxes, as they are also out of the affordable range. Because of such large amounts of taxes, people tend to avoid having housing and living in Texas.
