10 Bits of Wisdom for 30-Year-Olds From 40-Year-Olds

The 30s is the most happening time of anyone's life. It's the age where your career is likely to take off; you might get married or even decide to have kids. All these things can definitely be overwhelming, and you may even end up making a few wrong decisions. To help you stay on the safer side, here are a few advice from people in their 40s as they shared on an online platform.

1. Never Stop Exercising

Physical health declines as you age, and one thing that can keep you fit is a proper exercise schedule. A user suggests that 30ish people should opt for a hobby that includes workouts. They gave a few examples as well, including skiing, snowboarding, and MTB riding. As per them, if your routine does not include exercise, you should immediately start it as it gets difficult with increasing age.

2. Look After Your Teeth

This advice is 100% applicable as in your 30s, you are most likely to face dental repercussions due to the damage caused in earlier years of your life. Also, it's the age where gum diseases become more prominent. Therefore, one should avoid eating sweets, brush, and floss regularly, and even visit their dentist twice a year.

3. Get a Stable Job

Someone shares that people in the 30s age group should take up a government job. All because it offers stability and pays well, too. Moreover, working in such professions gives one enough time to explore the things they love. They further add that this mindset may not be able to make you rich, but you can at least taste moderate success and be happy with your lifestyle.

4. Wear Sunscreen

As you age, your skin might show signs of premature aging that encompasses wrinkles, discoloration, leathery appearance, and more. While there are quite a lot of ways to avoid this, wearing sunscreen daily in your 30s is one, as a user suggests. This approach prevents one from photoaging – a common phenomenon that occurs in people who spend their younger years in the sun without applying a protection cream.

5. Start Planning For Retirement

Someone stated that 30ish people should start a 401K or a similar retirement plan. According to them, it's better to plan your financial future a little earlier. This advice is further backed by Fidelity Investments, too, as it mentions that you must have at least one year's salary saved for the time after you retire. It specifically applies if you plan to retire at 65.

6. Eat Fiber

As per a user, almost 50% of people in their 30s are likely to have hemorrhoids if they do not include enough Fiber in their diet. While they suggested eating breakfast cereal, someone argued that these are just low-quality grains and sugars. Thus, you can skip that part and instead munch on other fiber sources, including lentils, split peas, apples, pears, etc.

7. Let Things Go

Although most advice covered health and finances, some gave importance to ethical values as well. According to them, it's important to forgive and let bygones be bygones when you hit your 30s. There's no point pondering over things that don't require your attention. With this approach, you are likely to get mentally stressed, which may impact your physical health too.

8. Visit Your Primary Care Physician

While it may seem like you're in your best health when you're in your 30s, don't invade your physician at all due to this. Jot down even the slightest issues you feel and let your doctor know about them in your next visit. Chances are that it might be nothing. And if not, you can at least get diagnosed earlier to start treatment before it becomes a nuisance.

9. Keep Yourself Hydrated

Not one, but a couple of users suggested people in the 30ish age group drink adequate water. A few of them even advised them to skip the soda. This is necessary as you're likely to get kidney stones at this age if proper care is not taken. Also, staying hydrated is linked to fresh and glowing skin, too – so it's a win-win situation.

10. Buy Property
