Why is exercising and enjoying it so hard!?
Here is a 6 step guide that will help you enjoy exercising for the long term.
Have you had a plateau in your exercise routine or have you never started one that lasted more than two weeks while you're in good company this video we're going over six ways to actually begin enjoying working out consistently. So if you want to work out consistently and enjoy it. Here we go.
First one if you've been in a plateau and are hitting a. Place for you have no enjoyment and exercising change it up. So if you do cardio on a treadmill go do an elliptical go to get group class. If you just two weights in general cope to a group class go do something different because the reality is when we do our routine, which are routine is great.
Don't get me wrong. But if you do the same thing over and over and over again, eventually hit that Plateau spot, it's very very difficult to grow. And most of us fall off so change it up whatever you're doing change something talk to other people find your tribe. I remember exercising by myself for a long time and hitting plateaus every.
Couple times a year and I always wonder why is this happening? Well, I think a lot of it has to do with doing it. So we are community-based beings Were Meant to have tribes now, we have neighborhoods and cities which makes it more difficult to be really densely connected for the gym is a great place to go to a group class and get a group of people around you who encouraged you and innocence hold you accountable because you're far more likely to give up on yourself.
Then you are on others at least most people. So if you find a tribe you can find people who are their support you and really make it enjoyable. Next you want to be in this Flow State when you're exercising. So when you do the same thing over and over again, and it's easy, you don't think about it.
It's this low stress low intensity environment, which you don't want to be in it doesn't work. It doesn't work for enjoying or longevity because you will hit a plateau and you will stop exercising. And you'll wonder why well, this is why because you're in a low stress and low intensity. However, you don't want to go on the other end and have extreme stress and make it miserable to work out.
You want to be in this sweet spot that's called The Flow State where it's challenging enough, but it's also enjoyable. I know the same like two conflicting ideas there but it really can happen. I started going to group classes quite a few. Moons ago and I remember thinking this is actually more difficult than I imagined yet.
You never think yoga is difficult until you actually do it for the first time. I remember doing some body weight moves and the next day feeling quite sore and I thought to myself I lift moderately heavy weight and I don't feel sore after word. Why do I feel sorry? And this because it was testing new muscles and it was something new to go back.
It was changing it up. But this is something really really important to be in this Flow State of total total Serenity almost every I feel Serenity when I'm in this place for I'm being challenged but it's also just enough challenge to not be too stressful. Next is keep your promises to yourself.
It's really easy to break the promises that we make to ourselves because the reality is no one holds us accountable besides us personally. So if you say you're going to wake up at 6:03 a.m. Do not hit the snooze button. If you do this small Act of Courage every single day and it's really courage and integrity.
People think Integrity just do with money and moral ethics. Now Integrity is more more more Dynamic than that Integrity is meaning if I set my own 4504. I put it on the calendar. I'm an exercise at 5:30 a.m. I'm gonna do it. I'm going to do this. It's like a meeting with yourself. You can even put in your calendar meeting with self if you really want to make it official but the reality is this.
If you don't follow through on your promises to yourself. Negativity begets negativity being not having non Integrity begets not Integrity. However, however, this is the good thing when you start doing these small acts of courage and follow through on your small promises. It really does start building up and you acknowledge those acknowledge those two.
Write in your Journal I acknowledge myself for waking up at 5 o'clock this morning and exercising. Let's drop it right in a few minutes my journal because it's what I did. I completed the Promise complete your promises to yourself and you will begin having more and more confidence and more and more courage to do not the small premises, but the larger ones as well next would be log your workouts.
Now I'm a data and statistical based person. So if I don't see it with numbers and words, it's difficult for me to comprehend it. So that being said if you're similar person to me or even if you're not I look back on my app and I can see that I've had 05 check-ins this week. That's an awesome week.
I'm really excited about that. I feel really good about that again acknowledging what's already happened to solidify what I'm going to do going forward. Because we can think that I'm going to work out tomorrow at five or six o'clock whatever it is, but we don't actually do it again broken promise.
Go back a step log the workout because then you can look back and look at your progress as well. I can look back on my very first spin class. Which I'm kind of slow but that was that to have restarts thing now all the way to just a few days ago and there's immense growth and I have that documented so I can look back and when I'm feeling down and I didn't do very much this week.
I can look back and say no I have and I've made progress and that is going to propel me going forward walk your workouts either and application. I use one right here called J fit. I believe this one is called. Or you can use just a pen and Pat pen and PAD as good as well my use that for many many months before I had the law get so you can look back and get encouraged by it.
And then lastly if you want to take immediate and really really strong action and the other ones are a little soft for you. Higher trainer put your money where your mouth is free things people do not invest. If you are given Something Free you are far more likely to trash it to not take care of it.
However, if you put. your money where your mouth is. That tasted gross then you are going more likely not a shirt a hundred percent, but you're more likely because now you have direct accountability not just pure spin friends who go to the same class, which is what my in direct accountability is, but you have direct accountability someone who's going to follow up with you and really hopefully help you throughout your fitness journey.
So if you're laying need, Direct accountability hire a trainer and make sure you get the right one interview a few to make sure they are the right person for you. That's it. That's the guy it's actually quite simple but most things in life are simple. They're not easy though. There's a big difference simple compared to easy.
It's a simple process to handle. It's not easy though. What do you guys do to stay committed to stay motivated to enjoy working out. These are things that I do on a. Often because the reality is if I don't see my my spin buddies and spin class the ones in front of me on the sides me I won't go it's just the fact I know I'm gonna see those people and even if they don't show up, that's okay.
