10 Dating Profile Details That Are Immediate Turn-Offs to Women

With online dating seemingly being the primary way to meet people nowadays, what you put in your profile can really make or break how many responses you get. So here is a top 10 list of topics and things to avoid for men.

1. Complaining About Other Women

When a woman reads a man's dating profile and he complains about other women, it's an instant turnoff. You've already closed yourself off to them because you expect them to already be like the woman you're complaining about.

One woman says, “I've read stuff like, women are shallow anyway! Or when they message you like “you probably won't read this anyway, women never do.”

2. Alpha Males

“This guy on Tinder would constantly tell me he was alpha.” one user comments, “he would use that as an excuse to be rude. Then, he would say, Sorry, just me being alpha. I never hung out with him because I called him out for being a jerk, and he has never had a woman call him out before.”

When women, and some men, hear a man say they're an alpha, it sets a red flag for some that the guy is rude and uses his “alpha” title as a reason to be rude.

3. Calling Out That You're Too Good To Be There

Anything that insinuates you're too good to be on a dating site is an immediate red flag. If you were too good for a dating site, why are you on a dating site? One woman said, “I once saw on a man's profile that he was too good to be on the site and only signed up on a dare.”

“He matched with me, so I responded with a hello. His immediate response was that he didn't need to be there. If he was looking for the ugly ones, he could find them in person just as easily.”

4. Talk About Their Bad Experiences With the Site

Some men have written on their profiles such things as, “well, I am here to get ignored again, as this is always what happens. So don't bother liking my profile if you don't want actually to talk.” Women understand, too, you are on that site, and you get ignored or ghosted. It happens.

But when you write an extended profile biography and all it talks about is your horrible history with the site, you are telling a woman right away all she needs to hear. So don't even click like. My whining will overpower the conversation.

5. Leave the Biography Blank

When a woman is looking on a dating site, what you write in that biography will tell her much more than the words you've typed. When a man leaves it blank, this tells them that he is only there looking for a quick release.

One user says, “You're either asking to be taken purely on your looks or shows you can't put in even a little effort over the minimum.”

6. I'm a True Gentlemen

“When you have to say you're a gentleman, then you probably aren't,” states one user. “Or they're damaged doormats.” Although usually, a gentleman doesn't need to proclaim that he is, he shows it in his actions.

7. I'm Looking For My Queen

What is it with men looking for their queen? One woman answered, “you come off as misogynistic. A man who wants a subservient woman who always looks and dresses her best.” Is that what they mean by it, though? Probably not, but it definitely sets off a red flag when a woman reads this in a man's profile.

One user has another answer, “Honestly, most women I know don't want to be put on a pedestal or catered to like that.” Women want a partner, an equal.

8. List of Do Not Wants

It's good to know what you are looking for. And if you've ever been on a dating site, you know you can filter things to your liking. But some have a different approach. One user comments, “Really, any list of people you don't want to date. It just makes you look like a jerk. We get it, and you don't want anyone who smokes, fine filter that as you're deal breaker.”

9. Group Photo

The group picture with no indication of who you are. One user says, “I'll assume you are the least attractive person in that picture, and you are trying to use your more attractive friends to get me to click on your profile.” This can be irritating as it seems like you are trying to pull a bait and switch.

10. No Fatties

Everyone has their types and their love languages. Some are more about personality, and some are more about looks. Saying fatty is an insulting way of getting your preferred type out there.

One user answers, “Try saying fitness is very important to me, or I enjoy working out and want a partner who does as well.” This would be a positive trait to look for instead of insulting anyone self-conscious who looks at your profile.
