Does it cost a lot to have fashion being a guy?
It really doesn't take a lot of money to be fashionable.
Here are 7 steps to being fashionable as a guy.
Hey guys, max here. If you're tired of wearing sweats tennis shoes and an old beat up t-shirt here we are here. Seven steps to dress relatively fashionable as a fella, dude, let's go. Our step used, used, used a Poshmark and, but thrift stores are my jam. That's how I find probably about 75 to 80% of everything I own simply because.
The first day you have it. It's going to scuff. It's going to wrinkle. It's going to somehow mess up. So buying brand new compared to use in good condition is almost no difference. And honestly, no one has ever asked me when I'm wearing a pair of pretty nice shoes. Did you buy those newer use? It's like asking someone's GPA when you're 30 years old.
No one cares about your calling GPA at age 30, they simply know no one cares. Whether you bought a pair of shoes, brand new or used. Now you need to find out the staple items. These are items that can go with just about everything. And for guys, they include quite a few very, very important pieces. The first one will be a black sport coat.
What's awesome about sport coats is you can buy the size. And have it tailored to fit you perfectly because the reality is a $100 sport coat compared to a $500 sport coat. When you look at it from afar looks almost identical. No, it doesn't look, it looks identical. You can not tell honestly, so that sport coat is super important.
A pair of dark wash jeans can go with pretty much every single thing you put on the top part of your body. And then a pair of semi gloss dress shoes, not the super shiny tuxedo ones, although like those as well. These are the semi-gloss ones that are black and they look shiny, but they're not too shiny.
What's great about when you have these staple items is you can add variety in a different way. You can learn the exact same black sport coat with a different shirt. And almost no one will notice it's the same black sport coat. That's what I love about men's fashion as a female. Good luck. But as a dude, you can wear these staple items over and over and over and over again.
And if you buy quality ones, they last a long, long time. And you can have variety and almost nobody will say, I want somebody like me. Let's say isn't the same sport coat from yesterday, but I'm the anomaly. Most people will never, ever notice. This one is super important. Cause I fall into the trap. Many, many different times is to buy durable shoes.
The ones that are made in this country. Yes, red, white, and blue baby made in this country and have a name behind them. These are the ones you want to put in your feed because you can buy the cheap made in China stuff. Truly you can buy three or four pairs for the same price as a USA made one, but they're going to be destroyed.
And about six months flat, truly, I thought that I bought these made in China shoes. They look so cool. They were actually very good looking, but within six months they were completely destroyed. The heel was literally coming off. So me, I like buying things one time. I don't like having to buy things over and over and over again.
And it's much better to have one pair of shoes. That's quality than three pair of shoes that are all going to break within the first. 18 months. And what's great is you can buy these great USA made shoes at first stores and used on Poshmark. For instance, you can find that many of these, and I found quite a few and for about half the price you pay for new, and again, the first day you have them, they will scuff.
So you use this the same. And then when you come to the point like me, you start buying way too much clothing. And, but that's to come to the point, you've got to start asking yourself this question. Am I going to wear this once a week? If the answer is no, do not buy it, take it out of the shopping cart and put it to the side or do not even click the proceed to checkout button.
However, if the answer is yes, consider it, is it something that's. Similar to something you already have, then don't buy it. If it's something that's maybe a little more variety and something different, then I'd consider buying it. But if the answer is you will not wear it at least once per week, do not buy it.
Now here's the poor man's way of hacking your suit to make it look absolutely marvelous. So you can buy a clearance suit from men's warehouse shows, Fe bank, all these different clearances. They're usually between 75 and a hundred dollars or so, depending upon what you find, I found for some as low as 80 bucks for a.
Jacket and pants combonation. So let's say it's cost a hundred bucks. You buy the suit at a size that you estimate is going to be yours and always going to be fitted. You want to be fitted, but it's always never going to fit perfectly like me. I have a large chest. My arms are really short, really very, very short, short arms, as you can tell.
So, and during the hack, this, I have it tailored for 80 bucks. And then you have now in the suit $180, and you have a suit that fits you perfectly. It looks like it just came to you all stitched up and it looks awesome. So you don't have to have custom made to feel like it was made custom made for you.
And that's what I like the S the, the sensation I feel when I put on a perfectly tailored suit to my body is like none other. I can literally conquer the world that day. I'm all about growth and I'm obsessed with the growth mindset and improving myself every single day that comes to fashion as well.
Start growing your wardrobe. If you usually don't wear bright colors, buy something bright colored. If you usually wear crazy bright colors, neutral it down a little bit, spice it up because the last thing you want is something. A billion, gray shirts, gray, boring. I remember the first time I ever wore a button up shirt buttoned up collared shirt, not Apollo buttoned up collared shirt all the way when I was in my early twenties.
And I felt like I was so out of place, it felt so odd, but there's something about dressing up formally and more casual situations. I have had more compliments, seriously, more compliments in one month of wearing suits every day than in my whole entire life put together. Seriously. If you are a tailored suit to your workplace, the gym, the fricking grocery store people will seriously say, wow, that's a nice suit.
That's really cool. It's insanity. I've never been complimented ever in my life. And this fashion growth that I've been going through has given me that it's crazy. It makes me feel very good. I remember wearing my first leather jacket ever. And I seriously felt like I was in the movie scene for a motorcycle chase.
I feel like I was wearing costume. It felt so odd. Aaron being so insecure. I look back and just, Oh my goodness. It was a lot different time than it is today. Now I don't get three. Craps, which you have to think about my leather jacket and were feeling so odd. And then I received my first compliment on it.
And like I said, just a moment ago that changed everything. And I would wear weather jackets pretty often during the winter and suits, as often as it permits, like I'm not going to wear a suit when it's 105 out in California, because as much as I love sweating, I don't like sweating in shoots. Now that is how you stay fashionable while staying on your very, very strict budget.
But the only is be super strict. If you find something that you absolutely love and cannot be without buy it, you're going to regret not buying it seriously, but don't do it all the time. Don't do that every single week. Every single day don't do that often, but it was something you really like buy it, be done with it, stop spending any more emotional and mental energy on it.
Because the last thing you want is a stupid. Piece of clothing to zap this mental energy for you. But that's, that's how I stay fashionable on a budget. How do you do it combo? I want to hear how you use stay fashioned on a budget and I'm not very fashionable today, but I promise you I'm usually wearing a nice button up promise with some nice shoes.
Promise. Please believe me. If not, you can look at my other videos and see those. Anyway. I will see you guys next time and a dress fashion way.
