1. Shrimp

Despite being delicious, shrimp might not be ideal for people with arthritis. A kind of shellfish noted for its high purine content is shrimp. In the body, purines are substances that can be converted to uric acid. Excess uric acid can cause inflammation and the onset of gout, a painful joint swelling that is a kind of arthritis.
