Snack time between mealtimes is vital for health if you choose smartly. Healthy and unhealthy snack choices are quite difficult today as we live in a fast-food generation. This feature is attributed to expediting ten delicious snack foods that are healthier than you think. Explore all of them to select the best snack for your tea time.

Potatoes

Who doesn't love baked potatoes loaded with onion, sour cream, or cheese toppings? A potato lover showed that seasoned potatoes are quite low in calories, as pretty much any vegetable has. A wide range of vitamins includes Potassium, Vitamin C, Zinc, Magnesium, Folate, Vitamin B6, and others. A healthy food lover commented, “Probably a lot of people associate them with fatty fries or crisps.”

Nuts

Nuts, like almonds, walnuts, peanuts, hazelnuts, cashews, and others, pack minerals. These minerals are magnesium, calcium, vitamin E, B6, and others. So, have a handful of nuts in your snack time. However, too much consumption might not be a good idea, and many experts recommend 30 grams of nuts daily. A diet-obsessed girl exhibited that there are also studies showing they contribute to weight loss despite being high in calories.

Dark Chocolate

Some health benefits of dark chocolates include improved blood flow and blood pressure, reducing inflammation, insulin resistance, and others. Taking an ounce or 2 per day during your snack time is advised to get these health benefits. However, check out the added sugar content in dark chocolate that can cause many health problems. I have also seen evidence from reviews of people who unveiled that Dark chocolate or pure cocoa isn't really a problem and even has some health benefits. It's mostly the added sugar that's the problem.

Eggs

You can find many variations in this snack. You can make it scrambled, runny, over easy, sunny side up, or French toast. Eggs contain nutrients like Selenium, Phosphorus, Choline, Vitamin B12, Multiple antioxidants, and others. On the safe side, eat 1–2 eggs daily in your snack time with a glass of juice. If your dietitian has any other recommendations, please follow them. You can see that comment also supports this recommendation, “I remember the “only eat max two eggs a day” because of the cholesterol issues attached.”

Tacos

Tacos is the best evening snack for me. You can add different fillings like healthy pickled and fresh veggies, corn, beans, ground beef, or chicken fillings. Avoid frying it in lots of oil, as you would turn it into a portion of junk food. Homemade tacos are always best for your health. A taco lover said, “The worst part is the tortilla, and if you just eat a serving, it's not bad at all.”

Bacon

Bacon is peculiarly considered unhealthy. But the picture is the opposite as this salt-cured pork health is only inherent in how you cook it. A home cook recommended that avoid adding oil to the pan to cook bacon. Put it on a non-stick frying pan over medium heat, and oil/fat will come from the bacon. You can have this easy snack with coffee.

Salsa

Salsa made with fresh vegetables is a perfect snack treat. It includes cooked red tomatoes, onions, chili peppers, and other ingredients. These changes are the types of salsa. You can have them with tortilla chips to have a perfect kick in your taste buds. They also have fewer calories than full-fat dressing. A Salsa fan also supported it with opinions that it makes sad lunch salads ten times better.

Soy

Soy beans are the healthiest option for snacks. It contains nine essential amino acids and other nutrients. You can make soybean salad, soup, or stew. However, over-processed soy has given all soy a bad name. Another notable point is that people don't eat in moderation, and then the food is blamed instead of its quantity.

Granola Bars

Granola Bars are often made from oats, brown sugar, raisins, coconut, or nuts. This makes them a healthy-hearty snack option. However, store-bought granola bars are usually stuffed with unhealthy sugars. Homemade ones can be a better alternative in this case. A user commented, “Granola bars are often to be made out to be as unhealthy as chocolate bars (when they are not).” So check out the sourcing and ingredients before purchasing them.

Corn

As a whole grain, corn will help with type 2 diabetes and chronic illnesses like heart disease. It is a gluten-free alternative to wheat. You can have grilled, boiled corn or a corn salad with some vegetables, which will be a great snack for tea time. Taking 3 ounces of corn servings and not more than this is recommended. Again, too much of anything is poison. A review depicts that “whole corn is very healthy and a great addition/filler in dishes.”
