The Dinosaur of Corporate America
The only dinosaur I know still exists is the crocodile or alligator. (sorry science/animal people)
Dinosaurs.go extinct and my experience with this particular dinosaur is that people are seen as numbers and judged on some metrics that may or may not make any sense at all.
No matter how high you rank is, being the CEO of a large company, you are replaceable. dispensable, whatever, because you're a number.
Individuals are numbers that are being “dealt with.” This has been how I've been treated personally and I've seen others being treated in the corporate world.
This is a bitter truth I've experienced first hand and through the testimony of others.
Millennials are snowflakes of individualism.
The large majority have been told since childhood they are “special.”
I'm not knocking being special. I am disapproving of the fact that everything has to be catered to each individual's preferences.
Millennials don't go for numbers. We don't go for being treated like a number or having numbers be dictating of what we do.
If you feel as though you're a number how excited are you going to be when you go to work?
Confession time: that was me and let me tell you not excited at all.
And I'm one who has immense enthusiasm in everything. But there were times where I was actually quite discouraged to go to this number-driven environment that was taking the human element out of the workplace.
There is going to have to be major changes to the corporate landscape if companies intend to attract and retain top talent.
But maybe all the snowflakes will melt before then….
