1. The Last Airbender (2010)

Night Shyamalan helms the real-life rendition of Nickelodeon's well-loved animated show Avatar: The Last Airbender, brought to life in this live-action film adaptation. The film stars Noah Ringer, Dev Patel, and Nicola Peltz. Although the source material was strong, both critics and fans criticized the film for its weak storytelling, subpar acting, and inadequate utilization of special effects. The movie also garnered criticism for its casting decisions, as many of the characters were portrayed by white actors despite the show being set in a fictional world inspired by Asian cultures.

2. Eragon (2006)

Stefen Fangmeier directs the thrilling fantasy-adventure movie, Eragon, featuring the talents of Edward Speleers, Jeremy Irons, and Sienna Guillory. The film is based on the first book in the Inheritance Cycle series by Christopher Paolini. The story follows Eragon, a young farm boy who discovers a dragon egg and becomes embroiled in a conflict between good and evil. Despite the book's popularity, the movie adaptation was poorly received by critics and fans for its weak storytelling, mediocre acting, and bad special effects.

3. Artemis Fowl (2020)

Adapted from Eoin Colfer's 2001 novel, the science fiction and fantasy blend in this adventure movie titled the same, with Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, and Josh Gad starring, under the direction of Kenneth Branagh. The story follows Artemis Fowl II, a 12-year-old genius and criminal mastermind, as he attempts to rescue his father from a dangerous criminal underworld. The movie was widely criticized for its poor storytelling, weak characterization, and poor use of special effects. It was also criticized for straying too far from the source material and for its poor representation of characters.

4. Fahrenheit 451 (2018)

Starring Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon, this science fiction flick was directed by Ramin Bahrani. It is based on the 1953 novel of the same name by Ray Bradbury. In a society plagued by dystopia, books are forbidden, and “firemen” are tasked with burning any copies discovered. The film's protagonist, Guy Montag, portrayed by Michael B. Jordan, embarks on a journey of self-discovery as he starts questioning his job and the values of the society he inhabits.

5. The Dark Tower (2017)

Based on Stephen King's eight-volume series with the same title, this fantasy flick directed by Nikolaj Arcel features Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey in the lead roles. The story revolves around a gunslinger named Roland Deschain, played by Idris Elba, who is on a quest to reach the “Dark Tower,” a mythical structure that is said to be the center of all universes. He is pursued by the Man in Black, played by Matthew McConaughey, who seeks to destroy the tower and bring chaos to the universe.

6. Son of the Mask (2005)

Directed by Lawrence Guterman, this sequel to the 1994 film “The Mask,” which had Jim Carrey in the lead, is a comedy flick featuring Jamie Kennedy, Alan Cumming, and Bob Hoskins. The story follows a struggling cartoonist named Tim Avery, played by Jamie Kennedy, who discovers a magical mask that gives him superhuman abilities. However, he soon realizes that the mask also has a mind of its own and is seeking a new host.

7. Dragonball Evolution (2009)

Based on Akira Toriyama's Japanese manga series “Dragon Ball,” this action-adventure movie directed by James Wong stars Justin Chatwin, James Marsters, and Emmy Rossum. The story follows a young martial artist named Goku, played by Justin Chatwin, who is on a quest to find the seven mystical Dragon Balls before an evil alien named Lord Piccolo, played by James Marsters, can use them to destroy the world.

8. Highlander 2 (1991)

Behold! A wild ride of a sci-fi action flick helmed by the talented Russell Mulcahy and starring the dynamic trio of Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery, and Virginia Madsen. It is the sequel to the popular 1986 film Highlander, which had a successful run at the box office. However, Highlander 2 was a critical and commercial disaster. The movie's plot centers on the concept of immortals and their struggle to survive on a post-apocalyptic Earth. The film was widely criticized for its convoluted storyline and poor special effects.

9. The Mandela Effect (2019)
