10 Movie Remakes That Could Be Disastrous (But We’re Watching Anyway)

In the cinematic universe, there are times when movies become so successful over the globe that the makers of the movie think that sequels would also do great, but that does not go well; instead, people who enjoyed all the concepts of the movie end up being disappointed. Let's get to know some movie remarks that didn't go well.

1. Planet of the Apes (2001)

The movie Planet of the Apes has been the favorite of viewers from the beginning, as it is always said that nothing could dim the spark of the original. The same goes for this film, as it has many sequels. Still, they didn't meet the original standard, even though they had better cinematography and other elements. The movie follows the plot of humans from Earth accidentally landing on a planet dominated by apes who can talk.

2. Ghost in the Shell (2017)

A live-action adaptation of the anime of the same name featuring Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbæk, and Takeshi Kitano, the movie is action science fiction that is centered around a woman who gets modified with cybernetic improvements because her body gets damaged beyond repair. The film has good visuals and good executions, but the catch is it deviated from the original version of the story.

3. The Karate Kid (2010)

The Karate Kid gained immense fame as it had a powerful cast, including Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. Still, it introduces the typical elements of a troubled kid after their parents divorced, bullying, etc., which drift the audience from the actual point of view and is considered a bit boring. The story goes around a kid who meets a kung fu master after moving to China and learns to defend himself.

4. Carrie (2013)

Carrie is the remake of the classical horror movie adapted from the book by Stephan King. Multiple elements went down the drain in the sequel, which made the original stand out in the first place: the edginess of the movie was forgotten to fit in the modern genre. The film is about an outcast girl who is bullied at school and abused at home by her mother. The pranks fall too far on prom night, and she unleashes her evil powers.

5. Robocop (2014)

A perfect example of a disastrous sequel that faded away as if it did not exist was the remake of the original Robocop from the '90s. The point here is the movie did not portray the unique elements that made it distinctive among others; instead, it became a stereotypical action science fiction. The film is centered around a man who suffers from a severe accident and is converted into a police cyborg robot.

6. The Last House on the Left (2009)

The horror genre always suffers the most when it comes to terrible sequels, and one example is the remake of The Last House on the Left. Despite the intriguing and chilling storyline, the viewers find the sequel not worth the watch. The story is about a gang who brutally tortured and killed a teenager end up finding refuge at their parents' house. Things start to turn dark when the parents decide to take revenge.

7. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them (2016)

It is a fantasy movie about a young wizard who loses his suitcase, in which numerous creatures are captured. Soon, things become chaotic when the suitcase unleashes many of them to the outside world. Although the classical is enjoyable and sound, the other part doesn't do justice to the beginning of the first one.

8. Mulan II (2004)

Another example of the worst sequel is Mulan II. It was so disappointing as it completely strays from the real purpose of the primary one. The story is centered around Mulan and Captain Li Shang when they are assigned to escort three princesses to China safely before their marriage. Still, as the journey proceeds, their loyalties get questioned.

9. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007)

Sometimes, it is better to leave the movie as it is even if the sequels are doing excellent because if it is continued, it takes the spark out, regardless of solid casting, such as Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley. The anecdote goes around the plot when Jack Sparrow is taken hostage, and now Davy Jones tries to unite all pirates to recuse Jack.

10. Ghostbusters (2016)

If you want to envision how such a great classic would lose its charm because of its sequels, Ghost Buster is an absolute example. Audiences are tired of the remakes and want the production to halt further sequels. The saga reveals that a couple of paranormal researchers tried to prove the existence of ghosts and came to know someone was summoning ghosts to cause an apocalypse.
