Centered around the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town's misadventures, The Nightmare Before Christmas is a spooky watch. The king thinks the idea of Christmas needs to be improved, leading to chaos. Now, he must find a way to restore the holidays to their rightful place. This entire journey involves many scare-jumps, especially for young viewers. 

4. Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998)

A classic by Jum Stenstrum, the Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island would've sent shivers down your spine if you watched it as a kid. Its plot involves the Mystery Inc. gang investigating a haunted Island. They encounter multiple supernatural occurrences during their journey, including cursed pirates and werecats. It's the first time the gang faces real paranormal threats in any Scooby-Doo installments. 

5. The Secret of Nimh (1982)

An animated fantasy, The Secret of NIMH features a field mouse named Mrs. Brisby who seeks to move her family to keep them safe from a farmer's plow. This leads her to discover a society of genetically modified rats. Besides that, she also faces multiple other dangers, like a fearsome cat and the enigmatic Great Owl. While the movie isn't too scary, the flashbacks of animals being tortured may have instilled fear in you as a child. 

6. Spirited Away (2001)

Spirited Away tells the story of a young girl who enters the spirit world after an unsettling event where her parents turn into pigs. She must work for spirits in a bathhouse to make them normal again. In this journey, she encounters a greedy and scary witch, Yudaba. However, at the same time, the kind-hearted Haku becomes her friend. 

7. Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)

Presenting a unique combination of live-action and animation, Who Framed Roger Rabbit explores a private investigator's efforts to clear the name of a toon framed for murder. Although the movie's plot is not too scary, its villain, Judge Doom's reveal, is extremely terrifying. Moreover, the film's innovative visuals earned it so many fans.
