When we hear big names like Leonardo DiCaprio, Anne Hathaway, and George Clooney, we immediately think they are big stars. But most of us have yet to learn that they started from television, which helped them advance their career and become super successful. In this article, we are ticking off our picks for the shows that launched careers.

1. Stranger Things (2016)

Hollywood is full of people trying to get their break into the industry. However, that can be challenging until they land a role that leads to big castings. Millie Bobby Brown, an actress from the recent science fiction drama Stranger Things, landed that dream role. The drama was a big hit from start to end. In the case of Bobby Brown, Stranger Things was the drama that advanced her career.

2. The All-New Mickey Mouse Club (1989–1995)

This American television show made the careers of many big stars. The All-New Mickey Mouse Club aired intermittently from 1955 to 1995. It starred young cast members who would become big stars and succeed in music and acting. Britney Spears went on to follow her music career, while my favorite, Ryan Gosling, became incredibly successful in acting.

3. Friends (1994–2004)

I have recommended this fantastic show to almost every member of my family and friends. This tells the story of the misadventures of six 20-somethings that make their lives both troublesome and happening. Jennifer Aniston, now a Hollywood star, rose to international fame as Rachel Green on the sitcom Friends. This drama kickstarted Jennifer's career. Today, she can be seen in many successful films like Horrible Bosses, Marley & Me, and We're the Millers. 

4. Band Of Brothers (2001)

Band of Brothers is a mini-series that tells the story of the Easy Company of the US Army. This American war drama was developed by HBO and aired in 2001. Although Band of Brothers consists of ten episodes, it highlights the young talent who would ultimately achieve notable success. This series undoubtedly stars prominent actors like Tom Hanks, but actors like Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy were largely unknown before appearing in the series.

5. Mad Men (2007-15)

It is not easy to imagine these days a big star like Jon Hamm working on serials without his name being displayed on posters and advertisements. But it was happening before 2007. Then, two words, “Mad Men,” came into his life. This multi-Emmy-winning show made the random actor Ham a superstar. This show was a cultural phenomenon that launched Hams's career.

6. My So-Called Life (1994-95)

The next on the list is the American method actor Jared Leto, who rose to fame and got plenty of recognition from the show My So-Called Life in 1994. After this break, Jared starred in many successful movies like Fight Club, Girl, Interrupted, and American Psycho and became a talented actor.

7. Freaks And Geeks (1999–2000)

Freaks and Geeks was a short-lived American comedy-drama made by Paul Feig and overseen by Judd Apatow. Due to its irregular scheduling, the season could not maintain its audience and was canceled midway through season one. Later, it gained a cult following, and many stars from this coming-of-age show found significant success. James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, and Martin Starr got their break on that series and can now be seen in more meaningful projects.

8. Get Real (1999)

Let's move to another actress who got lucky to land a role that made her a superstar. Anne Hathaway was cast as Meghan Green in the comedy-drama show Get Real. Anne then started mesmerizing Hollywood fans with her role in blockbusters like The Princess Diaries and The Devil Wears Prada. She has also worked in the critically acclaimed movie Interstellar. 

9. Growing Pains (1985)

Growing Pains is an American series spanning six seasons. The series follows the relationships and adventures of the Seaver family. Growing Pains is responsible for introducing many great faces to the media industry who would go on to achieve success in their Hollywood career. This season was the claim to fame for many big faces such as Brad Pitt, Matthew Perry, Hilary Swank, and Leonardo Decaprio. 

10. ER (1994-2009)

In American television history, Michael Crichton created the second-longest medical drama, ER. It stars George Clooney, who had been working for years before landing the role in this drama. This series takes his acting career to new heights. Since then, from acting to directing, Clooney has been stealing the lights.
