Strict Standards: 12 Rules From Parents That Leave Others at a Loss

Parenting is a full-time job. Ike other jobs, it also requires some rules. Parents create rules for their kids to have a healthy childhood. But there are a few parents who make such strict rules that leave other people amazed at this. Some people shared the strict rules leaving the general public stretching chins:

1. Too Much Fun Is Not Allowed

Fun activities are a big valuable part of life because they help children grow in their developmental stages. But a few parents do not allow their kids to have too much fun. It's as if only allowing a restricted amount of fun. A commenter mentioned that he has a friend in college. He can't go out if “he's already had too much fun this weekend.” Because his parents think he'll become corrupted if he has too much fun. And that he won't know how to work.

2. No Talking to Boys

Girls sometimes have to face a strange kind of restriction. That comes as “talking to boys is not allowed.” A few parents are pretty strict on their daughters about this rule. If they find it broken, then yelling begins. And some girls are even grounded for this as a punishment. It's quite a paranoid rule, as you can not live in the same environment and completely shut off the opposite gender. You must have a few connections due to studies or work if not friendship.

3. Curfew

Another of the most strict rules some parents practice is, having time curfews. It's good that you have set a time rule for your child to come home by then. But it's for safety and not for punishment. A few parents get annoyed and punish their kids even if they are a few minutes late. For instance, curfew time is by 9, and the kid arrives at 9:02, 9:05, or something. They will get punished or grounded for not being on time. Some parents even put a curfew on their kids with jobs. It is unethical and unhealthy parenting.

4. Absolute Control

A few parents like to have absolute control over their kids. No matter what their kids do, parents want to control their actions. Some commenters mentioned they could not use the bathroom without their parent's permission. Another one says that he had a friend in college. Once, he visited his house and found he couldn't sit on the couch. He was a pretty well-behaved and mannered kid. But this rule was only about the parent's control over his action. These are a few examples of how parents like to control their kids.

5. No Questions Allowed

Asking questions is one thing that all normal kids do. And if your kids are not asking questions, they face some problems. It's because they want to gain knowledge. But parents dismissing questions is an unhealthy thing. Some parents have strict rules of not asking a single question. Some commenters say they weren't allowed to ask where they were going. And if asked, they would shut them off, saying “Business.” It's such an abnormal way of raising kids.

6. Noise Is Not Allowed

Where there are kids, there would definitely be noise. But at some houses, kids are not allowed to make any noise. These are especially the fathers who dismay their kids for making any noise around them. So whenever they came home and watched the news on the TV, kids pretended not to breathe. And if they make any noise, they will be punished severely.

7. Controlling Food

Eating healthy and eating enough food is essential for a nourished person. Controlling kids' food positively is to keep them healthy. But the stories on an online platform show that some parents negatively control their kids' food. Like a few parents would say that drinking water between eating is prohibited. And if you drink water, you cannot eat more food. Others will only allow “this much food” or “this specific food.” No matter if it fulls you or not. Eating more will get you punished.

8. House Chores Is Girl's Work

Managing and doing house chores is everyone's duty. At least you should learn to do your own work. It will lessen the burden of work. But in a few households, it's only a female job to do house chores. So on Sundays and holidays, women would do all the chores, and men would sit on the couch watching TV. It's not a gender role. It's teaching your kids unhealthy boundaries.

9. Games Not Allowed

Many people mention that they weren't allowed to play games in their homes. They weren't allowed any game console or PlayStation. It was because their parents thought that it would make the kids waste their time. And some parents thought that it would slow down the computer. So many kids would hide games in many play at night. This rule didn't bring any good but only taught the kids to be sneaky around their parents.

10. No Privacy

It is the most common parenting rule that many parents practice. They will not allow a private space for their kids. Their kids are not allowed to shut their room doors. If they do this, parents will remove the door. Completely taking the privacy away from kids. It is proof, in the first place, why their kids needed privacy.

11. No Staying Over at Friends'

Staying over at a friend's house is a thing that most of you would have done. But a few parents strictly forbid staying over at friends. This will work as an unspoken rule. Many friends would gather at a friend's house for a PJ party. But you are not allowed to have this kind of fun. It's quite strict and paranoid.

12. Child Abuse

Hitting your wife, sister, or mother is domestic abuse. Just like that, hitting your child is child abuse. But a majority of parents ignore this statement. They will severely punish their kids with different items if their kid breaches their rules. Some people mentioned rubber rods, bamboo sticks, kitchen utensils, etc. It's like not giving a safe environment to your kids. And when these kids become independent, such parents wonder why their kids are not attached to them.
