It can be a disappointing and frustrating experience, especially if you were really excited to see the movie in the first place. 1. After Earth (2013)

After Earth is a science fiction flick by the famous M. Night Shyamalan, featuring the dynamic duo of Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith, the story takes place in a bleak, post-apocalyptic future, where Earth has turned into a ghost town, thanks to some catastrophic disasters.

Will Smith portrays the role of a legendary General who lands on the abandoned planet with his son (played by Jaden Smith), and together they must traverse treacherous terrain to signal for help. Unfortunately, this flick didn't impress the critics, who felt that the plot was as weak as a feather and the execution was as poor as a sad clown's makeup.

2. Dolittle (2020)

It is a fantasy-adventure movie helmed by the one and only Stephen Gaghan, starring the legendary Robert Downey Jr. as the charismatic Dr. John Dolittle, a vet fluent in the animals' language. After losing his beloved wife, the good doctor retreats to his mansion and ignores humans.

But when the young Queen of England falls ill, he dusts off his boots and sets out on a wild expedition with his animal pals to find a cure. This star-studded cast includes Emma Thompson, Tom Holland, and Rami Malek, yet critics panned the flick for its wacky plot and half-baked acting performances.

Mean Girls 2 is a side-splitting comedy directed by Melanie Mayron, and it's the follow-up to the smashing hit “Mean Girls” that had Lindsay Lohan in the lead. The movie follows the story of a new kid in town, Jo Mitchell (played by Meaghan Martin), who strikes up a friendship with the school's queen bee, Abby Hanover (played by Jennifer Stone).

The movie centers around Jo's epic struggle to fit in with the cool kids and her eventual showdown with Abby. While the original flick was a cult classic, This movie didn't quite hit the same high notes, as critics slammed it for its flimsy plot and ho-hum acting performances.

It is a horror movie directed by Sylvain White and stars Joey King, Julia Goldani Telles, and Jaz Sinclair. The movie is based on an internet meme of the same name. It follows a group of friends who attempt to summon Slender Man, a mythical monster known for his ability to manipulate and traumatize people. Critics gave the movie negative feedback due to its sluggish pace, poorly developed characters, and lack of frightening moments, ultimately failing to meet the high expectations set by the original online sensation.

5. Transformers (2011)

One user states, “I almost walked out watching this movie. I was on a plane.” That's how bad “Transformers” (2011) was. The film follows Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) once again teaming up with the Autobots to prevent the Decepticons from destroying the world. The plot could be more coherent, and the special effects can compensate for the lack of a coherent story.

6. Independence Day: Resurgence (2016)

This film takes place 20 years after the first film's events, where humanity is forced to band together again to fight off an even bigger alien threat. The film stars Jeff Goldblum, Liam Hemsworth, and Bill Pullman, but despite its star power, it failed to live up to its predecessor. It lacks the charm and suspense of the original and relies too heavily on over-the-top action scenes.

7. Artemis Fowl (2020)

The film follows the journey of a 12-year-old prodigy named Ferdia Shaw as he sets out on a quest to rescue his father, who a group of fairies has abducted. The film has an intriguing premise but needs to catch up due to its poor execution. The script could be clearer, and the pacing could be better, leaving the audience confused and disinterested in the story.

Idris Elba plays the role of a gunslinger in this film adaptation of Stephen King's book series, on a mission to prevent the destruction of the Dark Tower. This entity maintains the universe's balance. Meanwhile, Matthew McConaughey portrays the evil Man in Black. Despite the presence of such high-profile actors, the movie was harshly criticized by both reviewers and enthusiasts for its perplexing storyline, lack of character depth, and overall uninspired delivery.

This movie, directed by Ava DuVernay, the queen herself, brings together a sick cast, including Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, and Mindy Kaling. It's based on the bomb novel by Madeleine L'Engle and follows the story of Meg Murry, who goes on a wild ride through time and space to find her dad, who's gone missing.
