2. Madagascar

Madagascar, the place that one traveler never wants to visit again, was overshadowed by an outbreak of the plague epidemic during their stay. They were completely unaware of the situation until they returned home and discovered it was an annual occurrence. The experience left them shaken and left an indelible mark on their memory.

The falls themselves were magnificent, but the touristy activities could all be completed in one day, leaving them with nothing to do on their planned 2 1/2 day trip.

Tour guides managed to sneak them into the country, but leaving proved a bigger problem. They were forced to rent a car from a shady passport office employee for $500 to get to the border, where they had to sneak in. They were warned they could be arrested and had to rely on their tour guides to sneak them out. The whole experience left them traumatized and worried for their safety.
