They were completely unaware of the situation until they returned home and discovered it was an annual occurrence. The experience left them shaken and left an indelible mark on their memory.

They were warned they could be arrested and had to rely on their tour guides to sneak them out. The whole experience left them traumatized and worried for their safety.
