10 Frightening Statements Heard in Marriage

In marriage, sometimes, the partners hurt each other, while in others, the circumstances leave them both terrified or hurt. There are moments when life is bliss and others where there is a fear that either of you might fall off the next moment. In marriage, you live and learn to deal with each other's insecurities and fears. While these moments are scary, you tend to remember them throughout your life.

When living with your spouse, you get so involved with your partner that the thought of separation is scary. A commenter recalled how frightening it was when his wife, on the way to the counselor, told him that she did not want their marriage to work. Three years later, he thought it was better that they had parted ways as neither was happy.

With the death of the spouse, one feels incomplete and shattered. One feels alone even when surrounded by people and angry at times at the partner for leaving while you are still alive. A grieving spouse remembered the last moments of her better half and the amazement he had that he was alive after taking all his pills.

It is difficult to live with an arachnophobe as their fear of spiders interferes with their daily lives and those around them. A respondent related how she sees spiders sometimes and the unpleasant feeling of waking up in the middle of the night, afraid. She narrated the only incident when she had heard her husband scream of fear because she had hallucinated a green spider.

It is daunting to see patients fighting for their lives daily and watch them lose the battle. Someone described that his wife had a strenuous week at the hospital and witnessed many deaths. It was spine-chilling when she woke him up and asked if he could see it bleeding. It seems she was talking about a chair.

A user described an episode where he drove frantically to the hospital, frightened that his wife was having a heart attack. It was a panic attack mistaken for a heart attack. The symptoms of panic and heart attack are similar as, in both cases, the person feels some pressure in the chest, and either of them can trigger the other, so it's common to mistake one for the other.

6. Hang to Death

Every year, thousands of people commit suicide. The family and friends of many of these were sadly not aware of their mental health situations. A respondent related how she was alarmed when her husband admitted to considering suicide while she was unaware of his mental health. Another person admitted that his wife had saved his life by being there for him.

We need to talk; it might hint at a lot of things. An individual described how disturbed he was for six hours when, during the courtship period, his wife told him they needed to talk when he got home. He nurtured all kinds of negative thoughts when she only wanted to talk about the carpeting for the house. They still laugh at it even after many years into the marriage.

8. Overcoming Depression

Depression is not easy to live with, both for the person struggling with it and the people around them. A commenter described how shattered he was when his wife was at her lowest point of depression, without any obvious trigger, and mentioned that he would be better off if she didn’t live anymore.

Even with all the steps the government takes, domestic violence is still prevalent. A user recollected how her spouse threatened to throw her daughter out of her 5th-floor balcony if she screamed while he was beating her. She walked out of her marriage with her daughter the next day after facing domestic abuse for the first and last time.

A parent’s worst fear is losing their child; even the thought of it hits in the guts. A father recollected nerve-wracking words of his wife that she couldn’t wake their 9-month-old daughter. He rushed from work to carry her to the hospital. She faced flu-related dehydration and recovered without any complications. His wife’s words still haunted him 37 years later.
